The ABCA is generously subsidizing Free BAER ( Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) hearing tests to ABCA-registered Border Collies at the 2015 National Sheepdog Finals in Alturas. Priority will be given to dogs 2-7 years of age.

Dr. Colette Williams will be performing the testing Tuesday and Wednesday September 22nd and 23rd starting at 8:30 am  on a “first come/first serve” basis.  Most tests take approximately 15 minutes but some may take longer.

Dr Williams of UC Davis is well-known and well-regarded nationwide for her expertise in BAER testing. Dr. Williams has participated in many canine deafness studies involving Dalmatians and  Cattle Dogs, and she has contributed as well to the Neff/Ruhe Early Onset Deafness study. I am coordinating the testing and although the clinic is first-come, first-serve, I would like to get a ‘head count’ of those interested in having their dogs tested beforehand for planning purposes.  Please contact me ASAP at dbarwranch at gmail dot com.
